Brazilian metallers Almah led by ex-Angra singer Edu Falaschi awill be releasing their new album entitled ‘E.V.O’ on September 23rd worldwide via Pride & Joy Music (EU), Test Your Metal (US/MX/CA) and King Records (Japan). The band has posted a new lyric video for the first single off the album ‘Age of Aquarius’

‘E.V.O’ is the 5th studio album from Almah and was recorded in São Paulo, Brazil at IMF studios by Tito Falaschi plus mixed and mastered by Damien Rainaud (Fear Factory, Dragonforce, Baby Metal, etc) at Mix Unlimited in Los Angeles, California. The release is a concept album based on the evolution of people’s mind and soul during the so-called AGE OF AQUARIUS – the new era that the world is about to live. The author of the concept, Edu Falaschi, touches different subjects connected to the main idea, creating very positive lyrics for the album’s atmosphere.

Musically ‘E.V.O’ brings a fresh and powerful sound with the typical modern and heavy Almah touch, but this time one will be able to realize that it also has a direct connection with the Angra’s “Rebirth” (the first Angra album with Edu Falaschi’s voice). The compositions are a pleasant travel between contemporary rock, modern power and prog metal. The vocal lines on ‘E.V.O’ are very powerful, classic and the vocals have a higher pitch compared to previous Almah’s records. It’s very melodic, clean and into the bel canto style.

Russian atmospheric/depressive black metal band Taiga are now streaming their first single ‘Вверх’ off their upcoming album ‘Sky’ set for release on September 16th via Satanathc Records sub label Symbol of Domination. The album tells the story about those moments in life when people are aware of their own insignificance and can not overcome the emotional pain. Everyday is torture for them as loneliness is the guard of their cage and they feel there is no escape. In hope of change, they turn their eyes to the sky.

Taiga was founded in the Siberian city of Tomsk by Nikolai Seredov from the thrash band Стахановцы (Stakhanovtsi) and the funeral doom band Funeral Tears along with Andrey Chernov, guitarist of the military/martial industrial metal band Panzertank. In December 2013, they released their first two songs, “За чертой” and “На битом стекле”, which marked the beginning of the project. People suffering from mental disorders caused by public misunderstanding, undivided love and their own weakness are the main influence in TAIGA’s lyrics. In January 2014, Taiga released their the first EP called “Ты всё ещё дышишь” (You Are Still Breathing), which was immediately followed by another EP in February 2014, entitled “Прах к праху” (Ashen To Ashen). With great feedback on their EPs, Taiga revealed their debut full length “Ashen Light” during March 2014. The album featured new arranged tracks from the first two EPs and was co-released by labels Satanath Record, Metallic Media and and Le Crépuscule Du Soir Productions. In 2015, they released their second album “Gaia” via labels Symbol Of Domination and Metallic Media. In 2016, band recruited Aleksey “Satanath” Korolyov as their keyboardist/ambient sound maker to add to their mystic atmosphere. Quick Note: Andrei Chernov was not involved in the recording of the new album ‘Taiga’, but is still involved as a member of the band.

Originally formed in 2011, the Calgary thrashers formerly known as Hellborn Death Engines are beginning their resurgence under the new moniker Illyrian with the recent additions of bassist / vocalist Jeff Perry (Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) plus British drum sensation Darren May (ex-Deacon Birch) who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band to join original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals).

Evolving into a highly technical group playing thrash metal with their erratic and precise on-stage delivery, rapier wit, along with nostalgic charm, Illyrian have removed the constraints of conventional metal sub-genre formula to replace their sound with a melting pot of technical thrash riffs, blistering solos, prog-influenced rhythms along with the band’s signature tri-vocal attack all showcased on ten new thrashing tracks on their new album ‘Round 2: Fight!’. The album is set to be unleashed on October 7th and was co-produced by the band with Casey Lewis at Echo Base Studios plus mastered by Sacha Laskow (Every Hour Kills, ex-Divinity) at Perfect Fifth Studios.

legendary melodic metal act In Flames released the first double single from their new studio album ‘Battles’, out on November 11th, and now the band reveal a lyric video for track ‘The End’

‘You can also hear band members talk about their choice of releasing not only one but two new songs at the same time and why they picked the tracks ‘The Truth’ and ‘The End’. Watch the latest webisode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLnZMbZagak

Recorded in Los Angeles, the 15-track album sees the band taking a new approach while staying true to their vision and encompassing their unique, signature sound. IN FLAMES brought in Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson (Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance) as a collaborator on ‘Battles’, creating an album that speaks to all In Flames fans alike.

‘Y Proffwyd Dwyll’ is the second album from Welsh doom crew Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard. Released just 9 months after their debut ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth’, it is once again produced by Chris (Conan) Fielding, and is without doubt a whopping great slab of heaviness. But that’s not all…

Those who’ve investigated beyond the name, have already discovered that both the band and their music are deadly serious, and though MWWB may share sonic alliances with likes of Conan, Windhand and Yob, the many who tuned into their debut have discovered that MWWB don’t stick to the usual tropes, and are a unique proposition, with a sound all their own. The guitars are down-tuned to ‘Z,’ the guitar tone is tar thick and the riffs massive and full of hooks … of course.

But with the soaring, angelic, multi textured vocals of Jessica Ball, MWWB have added an extra dimension to what’s considered doom. Not your normal melodramatic dark chanteuse here pilgrims, more like MWWB’s secret weapon, a vein of crystal in the rock. In fact it’s a combination, which sounds both startling and often beautiful. Like if Liz Fraser had fronted Kyuss or Sleep … though that’s too simplistic a comparison.

Listen to latest track ‘Cithuula’  described by their record label New Heavy Sounds as ‘doom boiled down, with a gorgeously sublime vocal drop at the end.’

‘The Hum’ is the first ever solo album by Marc Heal and his first full-length release since the year 2000. He has been a presence in electronic music since the late 1980’s when his band Westwon toured with Gary Numan and recorded with Bowie’s engineer Colin Thurston.

His band Cubanate then achieved success in the industrial scene in the 1990’s with four acclaimed albums. Hits such as ‘Oxyacetylene’ and ‘Bodyburn’ crossed over into the mainstream and metal audiences, with the former achieving Single of the Week in Kerrang! and Melody Maker. Cubanate later signed to Chicago based label Wax Trax in its final years, while the band achieved worldwide exposure when Sony used four of their songs as the lead tracks on the best-selling ‘Gran Turismo’ console game. ‘Bodyburn’ was also
featured in The Sopranos and on the ‘Mortal Kombat’ soundtrack albums The band toured with The Sisters of Mercy, Gary Numan, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Fear Factory, Sheep On Drugs, PIG and more. Marc also worked with Jean-Luc Demeyer of Front 242, making two albums under the name C-TEC.

French technical death metal group Red Dawn have just shared a new music video for the track ‘Hate’ taken from the band’s first full-length album ‘Algorithm Of Destruction’, out now on Finisterian Dead End (The Slayerking, Ixion, War Inside, etc…)

Zornheym, a Symphonic Extreme Metal band based in Stockholm – founded and led by multi-instrumental mastermind and songwriter Zorn. After parting ways with his former band Dark Funeral, he was determined to shake up the traditional Metal meets Symphony approach with his new band Zornheym. Zornheym quickly grew from an ambitious idea into a dramatic musical and cinematic narrative revolving around the horrors of a mental institution and its prisoners. The line-up is completed by Facebreaker’s Bendler on vocals, guitarist and musical arranger Scucca, and Diabolical drummer Angst.

Inspiration drawn from icons such as Dissection, Dimmu Borgir and King Diamond is paired with real string orchestration and a powerful full choir. Every song on the debut album will have a visual accompaniment in the form of short graphic stories with further exploration of the themes as short films in place of the standard approach to music videos.

“The Opposed”, the single release, is a further step towards the Abyss, taking every element to the extreme: a darker, heavier and far more intense monument than ever before.
A prime example of frightening savagery, amazing musical execution, and excellent songwriting. A ritual aiming to spread its venomous perversion into year-end top 10 charts. It will haunt you evoking your darkest spirits, your most forbidden truths. And when you want to scream for mercy, you realize you’ll be begging for more.

The single is part of Zornheym’s concept that revolves around the horrors of a mental institution and its inmates. Each song also has its own comic strip drawn by the amazing artist Anu Bring (Märvel, Evil-lÿn, Satan’s fall).

A British export success story, hard rock band Voodoo Vegas has announced details of their second album.

Titled ‘Freak Show Candy Floss’ (out 4th November via PHD), Voodoo Vegas’ new release features ten modern rock tracks, oozing showmanship and demonstrating just how far the band has come since the release of 2013’s debut album ‘The Rise Of Jimmy Silver’ and last year’s EP ‘Hypnotise’.

“I believe we’ve matured as songwriters and musicians, and the new album reflect this”, states frontman Lawrence Case, “As much as we loved making the first album, last year’s EP was a hint of what was to come next, and we knew we had it in us to deliver the best album possible. And thanks to 2 years of touring around the UK and Europe, supporting some killer bands and learning so much from them and about ourselves as musicians and human beings, we’ve crafted ‘Freak Show Candy Floss’ and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Bold claims maybe, but there’s no doubt this new album by Voodoo Vegas rocks hard, whilst maintaining its roots in real life, wax lyrical content on all songs, like the powerful swagger of ‘Backstabber’, to the venomous, bluesy bite of ‘Poison’, whilst the sublime acoustic ballad ‘Sleeping In The Rain’ tackles the emotional subject matter of homelessness. With lead track ‘Killing Joke’, the band’s vision of a sick twisted society (“Nobody’s laughing, they’re smiling through the pain”) will soon be realised, courtesy of a new music video. Final track on the album ‘Walk Away’ is the heaviest song the band has put to record and showcases how well Voodoo Vegas mix the light and shade of rock music (“We wrote that in the final week of album pre-production, it’s one of those songs that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and it demanded to be on the album”).

As the album artwork and new band photo demonstrates, Voodoo Vegas have created a big top, circus ambience, something that’s been done to highlight what it’s like to be in a working band like VV in 2016.

“It’s hard and at times, it’s completely crazy”, says guitarist Meryl Hamilton, “I mean, don’t get me wrong, to have the opportunity to do what we do is amazing and we’re extremely fortunate. But for anyone that knows what’s its like to be in band, working full on, whilst juggerling (see what we did there?) traditional work and personal lives, to people outside this bubble, they think we’re mad.” “Yep”, chimes in Case, “The name ‘Freak Show Candy Floss’ comes from the idea that people who don’t live in this music world can’t understand why we travel for hours and hours only to play music for a short amount of time. Some people think we are crazy, insane, maybe even FREAKS! The name Freak Show Candy Floss comes from that, we are crazy, we are insane, we are FREAKS who love writing and playing our music, and the candy floss is the music and gigs we play, it’s there, it tastes so sweet, but then it’s gone so quick just like candy floss.”

Talking of freaks, Voodoo Vegas talisman Jimmy Silver returns to the album cover, as the ring leader to the Freak Show Candy Floss Circus.

Recorded at Los Rosales Studios in Moralzarzal, Spain, ‘Freak Show Candy Floss’ was engineered and produced by Guillermo “Will” Maya (The Answer).

“‘Freak Show Candy Floss’ is the first music written entirely with the new Voodoo Vegas line up.  Where some bands find it hard to write their sophomore album, Voodoo Vegas had a ton of energy going into the writing of this album and it didn’t feel like writing our second album, it felt like this was our first. Working with Will again (Maya produced last year’s ‘Hypnotise’ EP, which featured the debut of this current line up) was a no brainer. The man has helped us craft our best work yet and we’re all looking forward to what happens next”, says the band.
