Post Metalcore band SubXero with hints of Nu-Metal hail from Florida, USA.
How would you describe your music?
Our lyrics come from personal experience and we use that to reach out to people. We hope they can relate to our music and we want them to know that they are not alone in their journey through this life.
Tell us about how the history of the project?
SUBXERO was formed by Jason Xero with musicians in the Pittsburgh Pa area in 2016. He relocated back to Florida and put together a band of regional heavy hitters to form the current lineup.
Subxero released a Full length in 2017 entitled Reborn. In 2018 Subxero released The Blood In, Blood Out EP. In November of 2019 Subxero released The Lighwork EP.
Subxero is Jason Xero (Vocals), Eric Schramm (Bass), Josh Lough (Drums/Vocals), Daniel Knight (Guitar) and Issam Pereira (Guitar).
What are your influences/ musical heroes?
This question is always difficult to answer because we all have so many. If I had to name a few, and this barely scratches the surface, Pantera, Sevendust, Tool, Breaking Benjamin, Meshuggah, Slipknot. The list could go on for a long time.
What inspires you?
Life. Everyday things that happen. The events that we live through and are living through.
Do you write on the road? Or do you prefer to write in the studio?
Don’t really have a preference. Wherever an idea or song forms, we try to take advantage of it. We don’t like to force our music. Rehearsal is always a good place for things to happen. Throwing ideas around, get the creative juices flowing.
What is your favourite song to perform live?
It’s a three-way tie. Monarch, Before I Break and Before The Fall.
What would be your dream tour to be a part of?
My dream tour would be Pantera… something that could never happen unless I become a sorcerer, resurrect Dime and Vinny and dilute the bad blood.
I would settle for a McCulloch Accord for the people but as far as playing with someone that we fit with, I would say Motionless In White, Sevendust and Breaking Benjamin
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
Hmmm, I think the industry needs to realise that it’s the musicians and the bands that should be getting most of the bounty. We’ve created the teat from which it suckles. I find it atrocious that bands/musicians are still getting screwed by industry people. I get the whole cover your ass part of business but the people that create the product should be able to make a decent living.
Everyone thought Lars was an asshole for going after Napster. Well, the man was right in doing that. There’s good and bad people everywhere so Cover Your Ass!!!
What is the funniest/weirdest experience you have had on tour?
Can’t give out too many details but we ended up in a Waffle House in Georgia doing Jaeger shots with most of the crew and patrons. I think everyone had fun that night.
What are your future plans?
Finish the material for the next release, continue to expand our fan base, rehearse, continue our business relationships with Damon Moreno/Inner Light Agency, Spector basses, InTune Guitar Picks and Scorpion Percussion.
We hope that we all can start playing live again. I think everyone needs that.
Our music is available on all major media outlets. Thanks for this opportunity, it means a lot. Horns up!!!!
