Halysis are a metal band from Lahti, Finland. Their debut album cerulean was released May 202 and is available for download on bandcamp.

How would you describe your music?

The atmosphere is pretty dark and heavy, but still maintains fitting and memorable melodies. We’re kind of  a combination of modern metalcore and progressive metal.

Tell us about how the history of the project?

Halysis started as a three piece band, when Samuel(drums), Jose(guitar) and Santeri(bass) started playing cover songs together. A few years later second guitarist Santeri joined the band and that’s when we started to write our debut album Cerulean

What are your influences/ musical heroes?

We all have our own influences and people who we look up to, but some big influencers to our music would be: As I Lay Dying, The Faceless, Between The Buried And Me, and Trivium, to name a few.

What inspires you?

There’re a lot of things to get inspired from. For example, you could draw some new ideas from a good and interesting movie, or from a bad one! Sometimes your state of mind is enough to be something interesting and you feel like writing about it. Sometimes listening to other bands makes you inspired. There truly are a lot of things to be inspired by!

Do you write on the road? Or do you prefer to write in the studio?

I guess you can’t really force the writing process too much. When the inspiration strikes it doesn’t matter that much where you demo your songs.

What is your favourite song to perform live?

One of our favourites to play right now would be a song called Animus

What would be your dream tour to be a part of?

A tour that would have new and old bands together sharing the live music across the world. All of us would probably want to tour with our own favourite bands haha.

What are your current thoughts on the music industry?

It’s evolving all the time. Streaming is huge at the moment. Technology and knowledge are also pretty much available for anyone! Social media plays a big role in the music industry, and it’s kind of part of the game like it or not. It sure helps labels to grow more quickly and reach wider audiences, which is great!

What is the funniest/weirdest experience you have had on tour?

We haven’t been on tour yet as Halysis, and while this COVID-19 is still around, we won’t be for a while. We’ll keep practising until then so we’re ready to play our songs live!

What are your future plans?

Just keep making music and play shows, as simple as that. New opportunities will show themselves in the process, you never know! 🙂
