Major Moment are an alt-rock band from Boston, USA.

How would you describe your music?

We write music that we would love to listen to ourselves. We really miss the days when the rock genre was popular, and bands like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Green Day (oh, so many of them) released their best work, around 2000s.

So that time period shaped up our musical taste and music choices, like heavy guitar riffs, catchy vocal melodies, and meaningful lyrics. We have all of it in our sound, but we also incorporate electronic elements, layered synth melodies, that give our music that modern rock sound. We feel like with every new song our sound evolves, becoming bigger and better. Who’s ready for Major Moment’s next release?

Tell us about the history of Major Moment

We’ve been around less than 2 years, yet it feels like it’s been forever, lol! We’ve gone through a lot of changes, but our mission remains the same: to inspire people to be their best selves every day.

It all started with Andrey realising that his dreams of becoming a musician were slipping away, while he was busy running businesses that he was not even passionate about. It was not an easy decision to quit the business that brings you a good chunk of money every month, to start a music career from scratch, to invest everything you’ve got in it, and then be paid… nothing, often even having to pay to play. But giving up on a dream without even trying seemed far worse!

Andrey’s wife, Sasha, fully supported him in this journey. In fact, music was that one reason they even met in the first place, so she could totally relate to his decision. At one of the last-minute gigs when Andrey’s band members failed to learn their backup vocals parts, Sasha offered to help and was invited to the show as a special guest… the rest is history. Right now, our band feels stronger than ever!

We have two Russian-born vocalists, two super-talented American guitarists, and a hard-hitting, yet very technical, drummer who is originally from Guatemala, so we have enough diversity in the band to make our music unique.

What are your influences/ musical heroes?

As many of our fans already know, we owe a lot to Chester Bennington. He’s our hero, a legend. His music is the reason Andrey and Sasha met, why they love music so much, especially rock music, why they learned English, why they moved to the States, and why Andrey turned his life around to start pursuing a career in music… When we got the news about him passing, the pain was unbearable. It also made us realise how quickly life can change, and that if you have some aspirations, you gotta go for it… now! This is when Andrey wrote his first song in a while that later became our first single, called Before It’s Too Late.

Among other influences we would like to mention Bring Me The Horizon, Nine Inch Nails, Keane, Cold, and Poets of the Fall.

What inspires you?

People telling us how our music helps them in life, how it inspired them to go through fear or some dark times, or simply when they’re enjoying the music while flying down the highway! Haha! This is why we do what we do. And you should know, that if you decide to share something with us, we personally reply to every single person, because this connection is very important to us!

Do you write on the road? Or do you prefer to write in the studio?

The way it’s been up to this point was Andrey & Sasha would start writing demos in their home studio, then bring these ideas to the team, we all collaborate on them, and when we’re happy with what it becomes, we bring this version of the song to Halo Studio in Portland, ME. We work with an amazing producer, Kevin Billingslea.

Somehow, he knows what we’re going for and is able to bring our demos to the next level, extracting the greatest potential from them! So far this formula has been working out really well for us, but we’re open to change it anytime soon since we have new members in our team. Very excited to see where it’s gonna take us!

What is your favourite song to perform live?

It’s hard to pick a winner, but at this time, it’s May Leave Scars. Even though its pretty challenging vocally, the energy is always through the roof when we play it live! Another one is Living Your Life Like This, also tons of energy, plus a lot of people connect with it, so it makes it a perfect song to close the night with.

What would be your dream tour to be a part of?

Oh boy, cannot wait for this to happen! Basically, any band that influenced our music or has a similar sound. BMTH, STARSET, Papa Roach, I Prevail….

What are your current thoughts on the music industry?

Well, right now the world is going through a very rough time… With COVID-19 slamming down on us, all tours, gigs, plans, accommodations are cancelled or rescheduled, it’s a nightmare! Really feeling bad for those artists who booked big tours, they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars!! And we still don’t know what the hell is going to happen tomorrow…

But even before that music business was not in a happy place. Yes, there are much more opportunities to seek on your own without help of a record label or a management company, but still it makes it very difficult to scale. The market is over-saturated with all kinds of music, so it’s tough to stand out. We’re trying our best to make it happen, so if YOU’re reading this right now, you listened to our music and you like it, drop us a line! Share it with your friend! Follow us on social media, Spotify and what not, it all helps! 🤘🏼

What is the funniest/weirdest experience you have had on tour?

We’re yet to go on our first tour, so ask us next time, I’m sure we’ll have tons of stories to tell! Because things ALWAYS go NOT as planned, lol! But we’re ready to face any challenge on our way to success.

What are your future plans?

Big plans! We have a couple of shows/festivals to announce and let’s all hope they’re going to happen eventually!! But regardless of the virus situation, we’re going to keep releasing new music. In fact, we already recorded 4 new songs, one of them will be released as a first single somewhere in May/June this year. You ABSOLUTELY don’t wanna miss it! We’re also working on a very unique music video for this song! It’s going to be a challenge for us to pull it off, but we will! Stay tuned! 😎🙌🏼
