Tell us about the history of the band?
Jesse DeGroot (guitar): The band started in ’03 when Matt and I started writing songs together at ages 13 and 10. We have basically grown up as musicians and as people playing in this band with different line ups over the years. Tyler joined on bass in October 2017 and Jewell joined us in June of this year.
How would you describe your music?
Jesse: Heavy. Intense. Haunting.
What are your influences/ musical heroes?
Jesse: Everything from Pantera and Alice In Chains to Johnny Cash.
What record are you currently listening to?
Jesse: Currently listening to Knives Out! “Left in the Lurch” .
What is your favourite song to perform live?
Jesse: For me it’s a song called “Whiskey Mistress” that will be out later this year.
What would be your dream tour to be a part of?
Alice In Chains, Dillinger Escape Plan and Beneath the Hollow opening.
What is the funniest/weirdest experience you have had on tour?
Jesse: It’s always a lot of laughs when we’re out on the road. I don’t think I can pin down one specificity.
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
Jesse: It’s tough. Streaming doesn’t really pay enough to keep things moving so you’re reliant on the die hard music lovers that still buy merchandise and physical media. Each release is a battle to claw up a little bit.
What advice would you give to someone starting their own band?
Jesse: Get started, don’t procrastinate. Just start making music!
What are your future plans?
Jesse: We have an EP that will be released late this year or January 2020 we are super excited about it.
Once that’s released we will keep playing anywhere that will have us.
