Fresh off releasing their debut self-titled EP, Melbourne quintet Figures are back with new EP ‘Chronos’ on 16 June. The band have also unveiled new video ‘Recoil’. The massive, riff-heavy track, Recoil, comes along with a video and is dedicated to the memory and tragic loss of their friend and fan, Mick Mills, to Lymphoma.
Simon Edgell, Guitarist for the band, wants the world to know this one is for him. “‘Slick’ Mick Mills was a close personal friend of the band since meeting Simmo and Josh through work years ago. He was diagnosed with Lymphoma in September of 2016. He died only 9 months later at the young age of 27. He was a great guitar player and like a little brother to Simmo, who wouldn’t be the guitarist he is without those countless hours jamming together. His favourite Figures track was Recoil and he was always front row when we dropped it. He was a proper fan, we never want to forget him and what that song used to make him feel. RIP ‘Slick’ Mick, we’ll miss him but we will never forget him and this video clip was never released in time for him to see it. Guaranteed if he had have seen it, in true Mick style he would have most certainly lost his shit.”
Based on a recurring nightmare Pteroglyph mastermind Jimmy MacGregor was having, ‘Red On You’ is the latest single from the Leeds UK based progressive metal outfit, taken from the forthcoming album ‘Death Of A Prince’, set for release on 23rd June.
“I used to regularly wake up in a cold sweat from a nightmare where I was constantly being chased by some sort of terrifying sinister force,” comments Jimmy. “I put the reasons for the dream down to times of high stress in my life and ‘Red On You’ is basically a way of addressing this and the need for change. It’s the idea that running away from your problems doesn’t make them go away.”
The blood soaked video was shot on a shoestring budget by a good friend of Jimmy’s, Ben Daure from Grape Productions. “I approached Ben with a more comical idea involving similar gross themes but this was quickly overturned in favour of creating the most graphic and gruesome video we could. We enlisted the help of some close friends who are extremely talented at visual effects and latex prosthetics to make all the gory mess. We recruited more friends to be the main protagonists and even borrowed our guitarists children to star in the video…”

Brand new and extremely ready to make his mark, Charlie Manning has just unveiled his the official video for his debut single ‘Light Years In Moments’. If you have any doubts about the quality of talent in the UK, put those fears aside as Charlie Manning is here to make his mark and invites you to join him for the ride!
Charlie talks about ‘Light Years In Moments’:
“This song is very personal to me. It captures a specific point in my life where I was trying to help someone struggling with anxiety – they were in a very dark place. Writing music is the way I work out how I feel about things, and helps me deal with stuff that’s quite hard to talk about normally. The band and I are absolutely pumped to be releasing our first track – we love playing Light Years live and it was one of the first things we worked on together.”
Kingston alt-metal band Harbour Sharks are back with the news of an amazing new single, tour and the promise of a debut album in the autumn. The first taste of single ‘The Killer Inside Me’ will be an audio stream on the 18th of May.
Want to know more about ‘The Killer Inside Me’? Harbour Sharks have this to say:
“‘The Killer Inside Me’ is about the thought process of a serial killer with a split personality who feels hard done by and struggles to act on their instincts. The killer eventually reasons that as humans we are insignificant yet vows to never feel this way as he doesn’t feel he fits in with human normality. Although we don’t condone the acts of serial killers, we feel that this is a song for anyone who has ever felt outcast or humiliated in social norms that they can relate to.”
‘The Matriarch’ is also the brand new track and music video off of Unleash The Archers’ upcoming album ‘Apex’. The album marks the tenth anniversary of Unleash The Archers’! These heavy metal heroes are celebrating this honor with an exhilarating feast on their fourth masterpiece – out on June 2nd via Napalm Records!
Brittney Slayes states:
“This track is chapter three in the story, and in it we are introduced to our antagonist ‘The Matriarch’ in all her malevolent glory. We call this one our “quick banger” because it’s fast, catchy, and fun, and hopefully it won’t take long to learn the words! It is sung from an omniscient point of view, drawing the listener in with tales of The Matriarch’s depravity. The best part is the bridge, because the song is so dark, and then it launches into this flowing wraithlike guitar melody that is so memorable, I sing along to it every time and I think the fans will too! Absolutely can not wait to play this one live”
Symphonic metal band Constraint has just got released a new lyric video of the song ‘Autumn Hymn’, taken from the debut album ‘Enlightened by Darkness’!
