The Emergency Please are an alt rock trio based in Southampton. The band combine groove with thick bass lines and fluid guitar to create a huge sound which they compliment with energetic live performances
How would you describe your music?
It’s primarily pop punk/indie mixed in with funk grooves and neo souly chords
Tell us about how the history of the band?
The band was formed as a song writing vehicle for new material I had been working on. I wanted to go back to the kind of music that I grew up with but also wanted to mix it up with other influences. Adam, Sam and I work as session musicians so we’d been playing together for a while. They’re great players and it was really great to work with them on this record.
What are you influences/ musical heroes?
It’s a long list haha but if I had to narrow it down I’d say, Jimi Hendrix, The Smashing Pumpkins, John Mayer and D’Angelo
What inspires you?
Anything really. I write a lot about life events but recently have been experimenting with writing from an outsider kind of perspective.
Do you write on the road? or do you prefer to write in the studio?
It depends on when the idea comes but it definitely nicer to have all the gear ready in the studio so we can experiment with how it sounds.
What is your favourite song to perform live?
Definitely I Can’t Stop from our new EP Remember You.
What would be your dream tour to be a part of?
Would be a world tour with, Don Broco, Darwin Deez or Eternity Forever! Currently my favourite bands right now.
What are you current thoughts on the music industry?
There’s a lot of great music out there right now some of it in the mainstream but a lot of it gets lost as there’s so many platforms now.
What is the funniest/weirdest experience you have had on tour?
We’ll be planning our first tour with the release of our debut EP Remember You! Though I did get hit the face with my guitar once mid show….was during the first song as well haha
What are your future plans?
Remember You is an introduction to the sound we’re working on at the moment. We’re going to build on that sound, release new material and play it wherever and whenever we can.
